The Beat on Farrago's
5/2/09
Farrago's is a very upbeat, cool and
lively place to visit during brunch. Located in the heart of
midtown, it's only challenge is finding a parking place. Be
diligent, it's worth it.
The best way to describe the
atmosphere is to compare it to that of
La Strada's. It's a toned down
version without all the Jell-O shots and people milling about. So,
if your group wants to go someplace where they can let it all out,
you'll feel comfortable at Farrago's.
They also have nice outdoor seating;
worth the wait if you can have an umbrella at your table. Outdoor
seating is set in an atrium and has a tendency to be much more quiet,
especially since it's surrounded by residential living. If your
group is loud, you may opt for indoor seating. And the warm
afternoon sun can be unbearable at times.
Every brunch venue has their special
thing. Farrago's is the
bottomless mimosa for $9. It's a
true bottomless mimosa, meaning you never see the bottom of your glass.
Be careful, they do catch up to you.
Brunch is ordered off the menu and
the food is excellent. I've tried their stuffed French toast and
their eggs and steak. Neither dish disappointed. They also
serve pizza for brunch! Other notable dishes are the pancakes and
the migas. We were a party of six and everyone loved their food.
Farrago's doesn't accept
reservations for parties that are less than 8. Our party arrived
early and we hung out in the bar waiting for our table. Once we
were all together, our wait was only about 10 minutes.
